Genius Baby

I am so amazed when Jocelyn learns something new.. I have to share it even if everyone else doesn't find it as exciting!! Jocelyn has been babbling "Momma" for a long time, but I don't think that she is actually relating the word to me, it is just the sound she is making. Lately, she has been saying, "DaDa" and I also thought it was just babbling. But I notice that she has been saying it alot when Levon is around, or when we are doing something that her and Levon do together, like turning out the lights and locking the doors before bedtime. Then last night, I asked Jocelyn, "Where's Daddy?" and she looked all around the room until her eyes met Levon sleeping on the couch and she started squeeling and laughing. Now I believe she knows what she is saying when she says "DaDa" although I might not count it yet as her official first word! Another new thing she has learned is waving her arm for "bye bye". I didn't try to teach it to her and I don't even notice other people waving to her very often, but sure enough, when I say, "Let's go bye bye" or someone tells her goodbye, she starts waving her arm! Not her hand, but her entire arm!!

Levon has taught Jocelyn to turn off the light switches, something she is still working on.. it requires a lot of concentration on her part! I think I see a second tooth coming in right next to her first one on the bottom. I have yet to capture a picture of this tooth. You can see it when she smiles, but it doesn't show up in pictures yet. She lets me brush it with her own little toothbrush in the evenings!
I think Jocelyn will be crawling any day now. She scoots herself around to try to reach various items (usually the TV remote which is off limits!) and even rolls across the room and down the hallway, as you can see from the picture below!

Jocelyn loves to be flipped upside down and will look to whoever is in the room for a reaction each time she gets flipped! Maybe we will have a little acrobat! As much as this girl loves to be outside, I couldn't believe it when I tried to sit her down in the grass and she absolutely freaked out!! She acted like the blades of grass were painful or something!! I know Levon needed to mow, but it wasn't that bad! Actually, I have heard of babies being scared of grass before, so I know she will get over it. It's a little funny!

Hopefully this is one of the very last cold evenings we will have! Jocelyn is desperate to spend more time outside!!

Do you think she will be an early reader!?

Yes-she will be an early reader-5 reasons: 1-she is a girl 2-she is a first born child 3-her mom was a teacher 4- her mom spends LOTS of time with her
