Where has time gone!? She is already 8 months old and doing so many new things!
Now that she is crawling, she is also pulling herself up on EVERYTHING! Yes, all the way to standing! We look away for a second and she is across the room, standing up against the door or furniture, and has something in her mouth. It is so scary! Right now, she has two bruises on her forehead from falling against the tv stand while trying to pull up on it. Her head hitting the wood made such a loud crack I thought for sure we would be going to the ER. It swelled and bruised instantly but Jocelyn was over it about 5 minutes later. I just need to get used to the fact that she is going to be getting hurt more. She is learning what the word NO means real fast!
Jocelyn has so many little baby toys - they are everywhere, but somehow they just aren't interesting enough for her anymore. She would much rather play with things that aren't toys. Here are some of the things I let her have to entertain herself, with supervision of course: my makeup bag (see picture above), cell phones, tv remotes (I finally gave in), little lotion bottles, floss containers, hair ties, spatulas, empty water bottles, toothpaste tubes, wipe containers... the list could go on and on!
I did get her a little Veggie Tales bus from a garage sale, which she loves, that moves forward and then back to her while playing the theme song . She pushes it forward to make it go and waves her hands to the music- that is another new thing that she is doing.
Her bib says "Well Bred." My mom, the horse nut, got it for her for Christmas!
Jocelyn is now a pro at feeding herself. It is so cute to see her grab a fist full of food and eat it all by herself! She eats everything that we eat, just cut up in teeny tiny pieces. Her favorites are meat, vegetables, and some fruit. Well, pretty much anything! But only water to drink. She still makes a face for drinks other than water. She likes to suck on lemons from my water at restaurants and we are trying to teach her to do the baby signs for "more" and "drink," although she hasn't really picked that up yet. It is impossible to eat anything anymore without her expecting a bite. I've tried to eat ice cream with the bowl behind my back while playing with her on the floor, but she was too smart for me! She holds her mouth open so wide waiting for a bite like a little baby bird!
"Shared laughter. Bath times and play times. Sudden smiles.
New marvels every day- first word, first step, first everything.
A life less simple-
but richer than you could have EVER DREAMED."
[Pam Brown]
I can't wait to see what she does next!
